Hoi An shares similar weather with other areas of central Vietnam. Temperatures are pleasant all year round, although it can be a little cooler during the winter (December - February), while the summer months (July - September) are very hot. In general, however, average temperatures range between 20 and 34 °C throughout the year.
The rainy season in Hoi An usually runs between September and November, while the chances of regular rainfall are lower for the rest of the year. However, it can still rain at any time of the year in this area.
The best time to travel to Hoi An is probably between March and August. However, if you plan to visit Vietnam at other times of the year (for example, to visit other areas of Vietnam), you can come to Hoi An at any time and still enjoy your visit.

Weather in January
January is a winter month in central Vietnam, meaning that average temperatures range between 19 and 24°C. A trip to Hoi An for swimming is not very suitable at this time due to the lower temperatures. Rainfall totals are not too high, but this period is still not the driest time of the year.
January (which can sometimes fall in February) often also sees the celebration of the Lunar New Year Tet , when services for tourists are severely limited and all travel becomes much more difficult.

With February comes the driest time of the year, no more worrying about tropical downpours. Temperatures are also gradually rising, with average temperatures reaching 24°C, and the most popular time of year for travel in central Vietnam begins.
Weather in March
March marks the start of the official tourist season in Hoi An, and March is the month with the least rainfall of the whole year. Temperatures are still pleasant, with the average temperature hovering around 26°C.
Weather in April
The dry season continues in April, with average daily temperatures continuing to rise, ranging between 24 and 31 °C in Hoi An in April. It's also the beginning of a good time for swimming in the sea and relaxing on the local beaches.
Weather in May
If you visit Hoi An in May, you won't go wrong. With an average rainfall of 9 mm and temperatures between 25 and 33 °C, it's a very pleasant month to travel and also to stay at the beach.
Weather in June
June is the hottest month of the year in Hoi An, with maximum average temperatures reaching up to 35 °C, and the humidity is still not that high, so the feel-good temperatures are relatively bearable. June is the ideal month of the year for swimming and relaxing holidays by the South China Sea.
Weather in July
It is still hot in July and it also starts to rain more. On average, 21 mm of rain falls during the month and the average daily temperature is 30 °C. The humidity starts to increase and you will feel like you are in a tropical jungle.

With an average rainfall of 25 mm per month, August is the last month of the dry season. Temperatures drop slightly, ranging between 25 and 33 °C.
Weather in September
September in Hoi An is hot and rainy. On average, 59 mm of rain falls per month, the average temperature is 28 °C and the humidity is extremely high. September is one of the less suitable months to visit central Vietnam.
Weather in October
Even in October it rains a lot, it is rarely sunny, but at least it cools down a bit. However, due to prolonged rains, flooding and landslides can occur, especially in the mountainous areas west of Hoi An.
Weather in November
November is the final month of the rainy season, with an average rainfall of 64 mm and temperatures between 20 and 27 °C. With November comes winter in Hoi An and the end of the bathing season, as the sea is too rough and cloudy during the rainy season anyway.
Weather in December
In December you can expect average temperatures of around 22 °C and a significant reduction in rainfall. Even so, there can be occasional heavy downpours, which are the last signs of the rainy season passing.
When to go to Hoi An
Hoi An is located in central Vietnam, and it's generally best to visit when it's not the rainy season and not too cold. The best months to travel to Hoi An are therefore March to August.
The driest months of the year are February and March, and June or July can also be a good time when it is hot and very pleasant for swimming.
You can travel to Hoi An at any time of the year, spring is good for connecting Hoi An with northern Vietnam, winter is good if you are also going to southern Vietnam. You can expect significantly worse weather only from September to November.
