One of Oahu's most popular beaches has the poetic name Sunset Beach, suggesting that this is where you can watch the most beautiful sunsets over the Pacific Ocean.

This beautiful, clean beach with fine white sand is located on the northwest coast near the town of Pupukea and is loosely connected to Pupukea and Ke Iki beaches , which together form a continuous strip of nearly 4 km.

Swimming and beach facilities

Like other Hawaiian beaches outside of town, don't look for umbrella rentals or beach bars here. However, smaller snacks and restaurants are available along the main road just a few metres from the beach. There are free toilets near the parking lot.

However, you'll find beautiful scenery with tropical palm trees, very clean sand and ocean water, and gentle waves ideal for frolicking in the sea.

Beachfront accommodation

Travelers head to the beach mostly in the evening, so you may want to consider staying close to the beach so you don't have to return to Honolulu after dark. The nearest town where you can find smaller hotels and hostels is Pupukea, about 2 km away.

How to get there

Sunset Beach is on the main road along the island, but it's not as busy in these parts. You can get here easily by taking the 60 and 88A buses from Honolulu or Turtle Bay.

It is also very easy to get here by car on the main road numbers 99 and 83 from Honolulu, which is 60 km away. Free parking is available right next to the beach.
