One of Hawaii's most famous attractions, the Haiku Stairs , attracts tourists from all over the world, especially for the breathtaking views of pristine nature from the high and steep ridge.

The 10 best accommodations on Oahu

3000 steps up the mountain ridge

The Haiku Stairs is originally a military structure that led to a transmitter on the 841-foot-high Pu'ukeahiakahoe hill above Kanehoe.

Over 3,000 steel stairs with handrails lead steeply uphill along a very narrow wooded ridge and offer some of the most spectacular views not only in Hawaii, but undoubtedly in the world.

Are the Haiku Stairs open?

Due to the high number of injuries, it was decided in September 2021 that the stairs would be completely dismantled and it would no longer be possible to visit this attraction even illegally.

Currently, the Haiku Stairs are closed to the public and cannot be climbed legally.
