The Punchbowl volcanic crater, towering near downtown Honolulu, is one of Hawaii's most visited sites.

First of all, there is a great view of the entire city and Waikiki Beach, but most importantly, there is a monumental "National Memorial Cemetery" built in the middle of the crater, a cemetery dedicated to all veterans who served in the Pacific armed forces.

Cemetery and overlook entrance

There is no feeor regulation for entering the Punchbowl Crater, which is the location of the National Memorial Cemetery and the only way to reach the Honolulu Overlook.

You can visit the site 24 hours a day and enjoy nighttime views of the city and ocean, unlike the Diamond Head overlook, which closes at 6 p.m.

How to get there

You can drive to the top or walk along the sidewalk along the road from the Puowaina Drive/Hookui Street bus stop, where the 15 line stops. The distance from the bus stop to the viewpoint is 1.5 km one way.
