Getting to Honolulu

Find out the best and cheapest way to get to Honolulu, the best transport to the airport and whether regular ferries operate.
By air
West Honolulu has the largest airport in Hawaii Honolulu HNL.
It's home to hundreds of flights a day from the mainland US, surrounding islands and dozens of connections from Asia and Australia. There are no direct flights from Europe and you'll always connect in the mainland US or Canada.
When travelling to Hawaii, we recommend choosing an open-jaw ticket, where you fly into Honolulu and fly back from another island or vice versa. This will save you one inter-island flight if you don't want to stay only on Oahu.
For more detailed information, see our Oahu guide.
By air between islands
Honolulu Airport also has hundreds of flights a day to all the other Hawaiian islands, with service currently operated by 3 airlines - Southwest Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines and Mokulele Airlines.
On average, 1 flight (one way) to another island costs about 45 usd one way to the main airports of Kahului, Kona or Lihue. Southwest Airlines almost always offers the best fares.
Flights to smaller airports that only small airlines fly to cost about 160 usd one way.
