The statue of Poseidon is one of the most famous and important monuments in the whole of Gothenburg. It is located at the end of Avenyn Boulevard in Götaplatsen Square, which is slightly elevated above the rest of the city. The shared still life is then the subject of many photographs and postcards of Gothenburg.
The statue of Poseidon, the god of the sea, was sculpted by Carl Millese and first unveiled in 1931.
