Arc de Triomf

Arc de Triomf

When you say "Arc de Triomphe", the first thing that comes to mind is the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, but Barcelona also has a very nice Arc de Triomphe. At over 27 metres in height, Barcelona's arch is only 2 metres lower than the one in Paris.

The best accommodation in Barcelona

Barcelona's Arc de Triomf is built in neo-Mudéjar style in red brick and was completed in 1888 for the World Expo. The rich sculptural decoration by famous sculptors (e.g. Torquat Tasso, Manuel Fuxa or Antoni Vilanova) will also impress.

It is not possible to go to the top of the local Arc de Triomphe.

Location and transport

The Arc de Triomf stands at the start of the monumental pedestrianised Passeig de Lluís Companys, which leads to the Parc de la Ciutadella. The historic centre of Barri Gotic can also be reached on foot in 5 minutes. You can also get here by public transport:

  • Metro - Arc de Triomf station about 20 metres - line L1
  • Train - Arc de Triomf underground station approx. 20 metres - lines R1, R3, R4
  • Bus - Arc de Triomf station approx. 60 metres - lines 19, B20, B25, D50, H16
