Piazza Gae Aulenti

Milan is the economic heart of Italy and one of the main economic centres of southern Europe. To visit the modern district, home to the Italian offices of many of the world's leading companies, head to the northern edge of the centre to Porta Garibaldi in the central Piazza Gae Aulenti.
This is the heart of modern Milan and is where you'll see the greatest concentration of skyscrapers, shopping centres and modern architecture.

The circular piazza, named after the famous Milanese architect Gae Aulenti, is surrounded by luxury shopping malls with the most famous fashion brands, but you can shop here for everything imaginable.
The whole area around Piazza Gae Aulenti is a major centre of modern Milanese architecture, with a plethora of high-rise glass buildings housing the world's biggest companies.
UniCredit Tower
The dominant feature of the piazza and the whole area is undoubtedly the Torre UniCredit, the tallest skyscraper in Milan. With a total height of 217 metres (231 metres with the antenna), it is also the tallest building in all of Italy and the 43rd tallest building in Europe.
Unfortunately, it currently has no regular observation deck for tourists and the high-rise floors are only open to the public on special occasions. The UniCredit Tower was completed in 2012.
