Take a stroll down the rue dell'Archiginnasio, characterised by the most famous of all Bologna's famous arcades. The street runs connecting Piazza Maggiore and Piazza Galvani.
Palazzo dell'Archiginnasio was the original seat of the university. Today it houses the Biblioteca dell'Archiginnasio, and inside it's worth a visit for the Teatro Anatomico, an ancient 17th-century classroom where anatomy lessons were held. The courtyard is freely accessible and well worth a visit, its walls are covered with hundreds of coats of arms.
Opening hours: Monday and Saturday 10am-6pm, Sunday 10am-2pm.
