Getting to Bologna

Bologna is a transport hub in the centre of northern Italy. It is not so difficult to get to Bologna by plane, bus or rail.

By air

One of the most common and easiest ways to get to Bologna is by direct air. This is offered by countless airlines not only within continental Europe.

Bologna's main airport, Bologna BLQ, is close to the city. You'll find it in close proximity to the city, roughly just 10 kilometres from the centre itself.

By bus

If for some reason you prefer bus connections to air travel, you can take advantage of direct day and night bus services.

Departures from many nearby and more distant European cities can be found, for example, through the carrier Flixbus. For departures from the Czech Republic you can also use the domestic carrier Regiojet.

By train

Right in the city centre, you'll find Bologna Centrale main railway station, with 800 trains a day from all over Italy, as well as one direct night train from Vienna.

From Vienna to Bologna, the German Bahn.de operates with departures in the evening around 8pm and arrivals at Bologna Centrale station in the morning. The total train journey time is just under 10 hours.

A seat works out at 30 eur and a berth at 80 eur for an adult. Prices and available connections can be found on the Austrian Railways website oebb.at.
