Electricity and power sockets

The Indonesian power grid operates on a 230 V and 50 Hz frequency.

Sockets and plugs in Indonesia are of the European type, mainly type C and less often type F (the so-called "Schuko" plug).

A type F socket has two holes and a pair of earthing strips at the top and bottom.

Type C sockets do not have an earth connection (this is replaced by two-phase protection), so you can easily plug in, for example, a mobile phone charger or shaver.

  • Sockets - F and C
  • Voltage - 230 V
  • Frequency - 50 Hz

Internet

Mobile data works without problems in all populated areas in Indonesia, and free wi-fi is standard in all hotels, as well as cafes and fast-food joints.

In particular, the jungle areas of Sumatra and Borneo, as well as some of the smaller islands of eastern Indonesia, are completely without internet coverage.

All international airports have many kiosks of local mobile operators offering data and regular sim cards.

If you don't want to be delayed upon arrival, get an Indonesian data e-sim from airalo.com in advance.
