The town of Chanioti (sometimes spelled Chaniotis) is one of the most popular on the promontory of Kassandra and also the largest resort on Halkidiki.

Beneath the gently rolling hills, you'll find several long beaches with clear water, a pretty centre full of pedestrianised areas, apartments and smaller resorts that's alive even at night.

Chaniotis is one of the liveliest resorts in Halkidiki, although the rather rural feel of the small houses here gives you a relaxed countryside vibe,

Beaches and swimming

Chaniotis beach stretches for 3km along the length of the town, turning into Polychrono to the north and Pefkochori to the south. In places, especially in the centre, the beach is very narrow, but it gradually widens slightly and the further you get from the centre, the more privacy you'll enjoy.

The surface is quite fine sand mixed with small pebbles and is not unpleasant to walk on.

The water here is very clear and the entrance is only gentle. The beach is also popular with families with children thanks to the many taverns, shops and water sports stalls.

Accommodation in Chanioti

If you're heading to the resort as an individual traveller, be prepared for hotel or studio prices in high season between 59 eur and 128 eur per night in a 2-bed room, while the better resorts have prices between 110 eur and 202 eur.

For cheap accommodation under 73 eur per night we would recommend the Hanioti Hotel ** in the centre of town or the apartments Villa Christina Sea Side in a quiet part of the town 50 metres from the beach.

Among the resorts right by the sea, the quality is dominated by Ostria Sea Side Hotel ****.
