Muara Beach is the most popular place to swim in the sea in Brunei. It is located less than 30 km from the capital city of Bandar Seri Begawan.

Muara Beach is frequented mainly by locals and is very busy especially on Friday and Saturday afternoons. On the other hand, at other times of the week you will always find only a few people here.

Beach facilities

Since 2006, the area around the beach has been landscaped into a beautiful recreational park with many benches, landscaped grassy areas or even a swimming pool.

The beach itself is without facilities, there are no sunbed rentals or restaurants. So always bring your own refreshments.

The beach is covered with fine sand and, in addition to swimming, invites you to take long walks to neighbouring beaches, where you can walk up to 5 km.

You will only meet a few individuals on the beach and occasionally a stray dog will come to see you, although the number of strays is significantly less than elsewhere in Asia.

How to get there

The easiest way to get to Muara Beach is by taxi via the DART mobile app. Just expect a longer wait time of up to 30 minutes on the way back to the centre of Bandar Seri Begawan.

The taxi fare from Bandar Seri Begawan to Muara is around 27 bnd.

There is also bus line 33 from the international ferry dock to the beach, where you can change to lines 37 or 39 in the direction of the centre. However, the buses only run on average once an hour with no regular schedule.
