Electricity and power sockets
Brunei's electricity grid operates at 50 Hz and with a terminal voltage of 240 V.
Due to its specific links to the UK, there are British sockets, which are the same as those in neighbouring Malaysia, for example, but different from those in Indonesia.
Sockets and plugs used in Brunei are 'British', i.e. type G with three rectangular holes. Each socket even has its own switch (usually right next to the socket holes) where you can turn off the electricity supply to it.
- Sockets - G
- Voltage - 230 V

Internet
Free wi-fi is available in all hotels, resorts and the vast majority of private guesthouse and apartment operators offer it.
In public places, free wi-fi is available in restaurants or fast-food outlets.
At Brunei Airport there are many kiosks of local mobile operators offering data sim cards.
If you don't want to be delayed on arrival, get a Brunei data e-sim in advance from the airalo.com.
