Tirana International Airport in a nutshell

Mother Teresa Airport in Tirana is 12 km from the city centre. Most of the traffic here is from Italy, where many Albanians commute for work.
Wizz Air and Ryanair have large bases at the airport and fly all over Europe from here. Local airlines such as Air Albania and Albawings are also based at Tirana Airport.
Tirana Airport is the main entry point to Albania. The only other airport , Kukës KFZ near the Kosovo border, has only occasional seasonal services to 2 or 3 destinations.

And will the Ryanair kiosk also print out Wizzair boarding? Or do we have to go elsewhere?

Hi, can we make the 10:30 flight on Monday if we take the 8:00 bus from Düres?

There are 4 Ryanair kiosks opposite check-in on departures, where you can print your tickets by punching the Qr code into the app without waiting. Support threatened us that it would cost 20 euro, but it was printed for free. Be careful you have to be connected to the kiosk's wifi otherwise it threw an eror. ;)
The airport is targeting 10 million enplanements this year, a building boom unseen in the last x years and still going strong. Wizz currently bases 12 aircraft here. Big eyes are hoping for overseas routes in the coming years. The train service is due to be operational in spring 25.
Confirmed at the check-in desk that boarding passes must be paper and they print them for free, BUT a few people slipped through security with PDFs on their mobiles where the turnstile normally let them through and even at the gate there were other people who only had BP on their mobiles, the attendant did say something to them but then copied the numbers from their mobiles and let them board.
Well, I'm glad others tried it for me today. 😆 I went to the counter to get BP printed.
The boarding pass experiment on the mobile phone in TIA passed. Just the BP barcode pdf downloaded from the web. The gate at security had no problem. I went through the passport automated, the gate was a bit confused, then they copied something from the pdf n the mobile, they looked pretty unhappy even afterwards, so I finally gave them the BP I had already printed at home just in case :D. Otherwise boarding ended at 20:50 and by 20:52 they had closed it and didn't let anyone else in ... even though we were waiting just behind the tape.
"They didn't let anyone else in ... even though we were waiting just behind the tape. " - So you didn't leave?;)
No, we behind the tape flew away, those who were in front of it did not :-)
I've never seen anyone who was still in line before closing time not be let in. How many people were left?
I must have spelled it wrong. They didn't let anyone in who came in after the ribbon pulling, which was 2 minutes after the official end of boarding as listed on BP.
They were that cool, huh? Was that FR or W6? Considering how messed up they are in boarding times themselves, it seems like unnecessary cruelty not to let someone who stomps behind the tape a few tens of seconds after the official boarding...
Was FR to KRK, just surprised me too, especially in the Balkans. Usually they only start letting the gait in when it is officially listed as the end of boarding.
FR usually starts when it's officially supposed to end, but I've had it happen once before, I think in Vienna, that he ended boarding according to the official time. Since then I try to be there at least 5 minutes before... 😆
