Krujë Castle

The dominant feature of the city is the Krujë Castle and Fortress, which has played a significant role in Albanian history many times.

The fortress was built as early as the 6th century, but saw its glory days during the 15th century, when the Turks tried unsuccessfully to conquer Krujë several times.

Inside the fortress you will find a large museum of the national hero Skanderbeg, a smaller ethnographic museum and very well-preserved parts of the castle.
