Transportation from Tenerife South Airport

Tenerife

The airport has many local and international car rental companies and is also connected to all major cities by bus. Buses run to the airport 24 hours a day.

Car rental

Car rental booths are located right in the arrivals hall, and the vast majority of car rental companies operating in Tenerife are based at the airport. It is always best to book a car in advance for the lowest possible price.

Compare car rental prices on booking.com

Weekly rental prices range from around 150 eur in the winter season for a small car to 350 eur in the summer season. Most cars are then rented between 128 eur and 293 eur for a week depending on the season. Read our in-depth article on car rental in Tenerife for specific tips on rental companies and Tenerife traffic.

Avoid unreliable car rental companies such as Goldcar, OK Mobility or TopCar.

Buses

Four TITSA bus routes stop right outside the terminal and provide bus services all over the island.

Directions Santa Cruz

The largest city on Tenerife is reached directly from the airport by bus line 10 (marked 711 at night, but running along virtually the same route). Please note that line 111, which used to go to the airport in the past, now only stops at the "Enlace Aeropuerto" stop on the highway 2 km from the airport (no pavement).

The bus runs directly from the airport to Santa Cruz without stopping, with one exception in the nearby town of San Isidro, where you can change to other services stopping along the coast (e.g. line 111). The 711 night service, on the other hand, stops at all stops along the way.

Direction Los Cristianos, Playa de la Amércias, Costa Adeje

The main beach resorts in the south of the island can be reached by buses 40 and 343 during the day and 711 at night.

Puerto de la Cruz and Tenerife Norte Airport

Direct service to Puero de la Cruz in the north of Tenerife and also to Tenerife's second airport, Norte Airport (TFN), is provided 4-5 times a day by line 343.

The route is an express without stops, taking 50 minutes to Norte Airport and 75 minutes to Puerto Cruz.

Ticket prices are 9,70 eur to Norte Airport and 13,55 eur to Puerto de la Cruz, respectively.

A more frequent connection with a transfer is Line 10 to Santa Cruz, followed by many other connections to both Norte Airport and Puerto de la Cruz.

Direction Costa del Silencio, Las Galletas

To the resorts closest to the Costa del Silencio airport, Las Galletas and the Golfo del Sur golf resorts, the 415 bus runs once an hour from approximately 6:30am to 9pm.

The 415 bus runs to the resorts closest to the airport once an hour from approximately 6:30 to 21:00.

  • Fares: 2,85 eur (to Golfo del Sur only 2,45 eur)
  • Travel time: approx. 30 minutes
  • Frequency: 60 minutes
  • Timetable, map - line 415

San Isidro

The nearest town, San Isidro, is a popular place to stay near the airport in case of early departure/late arrival.

There are also a large number of bus services from San Isidro to the hinterland.

From the airport to San Isidro, you can use the 10, 343 and 415 lines during the day, cumulatively 2-3 times per hour. At night, line 711 runs on the route.

The journey takes about 5-7 minutes and the ticket costs 2,45 eur.

Tickets and where to buy them

In addition to the individual tickets listed above, which are useful if you won't be travelling by bus very often, you can also buy more economical tourist tickets. You must always add 2 eur to the price for a card that you can use to top up other tickets:

  • 24-hour ticket - 10 eur
  • 7-day ticket - 50 eur

If you are travelling in a larger group of people for shorter distances, a ticket called Ten+Wallet may be worthwhile. You can top up your ticket with a credit of 10 to 99 eur at your discretion. This is then deducted according to the distance travelled, and the fare is about 20% cheaper than if you bought individual tickets.

Even for multiple people, a single card is enough.

Tickets can only be purchased from the driver at the airport, where you can pay with cash or card.
