The smaller of Tenerife 's two airports is located near La Laguna and about 11 km from the capital city of Santa Cruz.

In contrast to the larger Tenerife Sur Airport, which handles most flights to Europe, Tenerife Norte Airport mainly serves mainland Spain and the surrounding Canary Islands.
