Zayed International Airport is located in the capital of the United Arab Emirates, approximately 20 kilometres from the city centre. It is one of the medium-sized airports and is home to the national airline Etihad Airways.

When searching for flights to Abu Dhabi, some flight search engines automatically include flights to the much larger Dubai DXB Airport, 130 kilometres away. So always check which airport you are actually buying a ticket for.

Abu Dhabi is a major base for three airlines:

• Etihad Airways - you'll usually transit from Europe to Asia or Africa with Etihad via Abu Dhabi, and they offer good fares on these routes (view good deals with on etihad.com)
• Wizz Air - the cheapest flights to Europe, the Maldives or Central Asia
• Air Arabia - cheapest tickets to the Arabian Peninsula, India, Pakistan or Egypt
