From the end of 2023, the airport uses only one terminal, known as Terminal A.
Flights of all airlines are handled from Terminal A. The airport building is huge and very modern. Due to its shape, distances are relatively short and even the furthest corners of the terminal can be reached on foot within 15 minutes from the security checkpoint.
The old terminals 1, 2 and 3 are now only used to handle private or cargo flights.
Transfer between flights
In Abu Dhabi, you will only ever transfer within a single terminal.
Once you exit, follow the yellow Flight Connections signs to the security checkpoint. This is done at every transfer, but passport control is not done at the transfer unless you have to collect your luggage.
Once through security, you will be at the departure gates.
Transferring at Abu Dhabi Airport is very convenient and straightforward and definitely more friendly than at rival Dubai Airport. Realistically, it takes about 20 to 30 minutes to move from the gate to the next boarding point.

In case your layover takes more than 4 hours, it is possible to shorten the wait for the next flight with a short trip, namely:
- Yas Marina Circuit (2 hours),
- Shopping at Souk Qaryat Al Bery (2-3 hrs),
- Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque (3 hrs),
- Ferrari World (8 hrs.).
Always use taxis for transport and the times quoted include transport but are approximate.
Terminal A-super, beautiful, modern, water fountains at every toilet. Lots of duty free shops, there's a food court-foods more expensive.
Some seats are plugged into an outlet, which is in the ground and you can charge whatever you want👍.
Hey. Hey,
I see you flew with Wizzo. How did you handle the ticketing on the return trip ?
