Málaga has two botanical gardens, but one of them is much more eye-catching. The Jardin Botánico de la Concepción is located on the northern outskirts of Málaga and boasts over 150 years of history. It was founded in 1855 in the hills above Málaga in the style of a wilder English garden.
Subtropical and tropical plants
La Concepción garden is one of only a handful in Europe that specialises directly in the outdoor cultivation of subtropical and tropical plants and trees. Of the more than 50,000 plants, over 2,000 come from subtropical or tropical landscapes, one of the highest numbers in Europe.
The garden also boasts a rich collection of bamboos, palms and aquatic plants, as well as beautiful gazebos.
Entrance fees and opening hours
The garden is open all year round every day from 9:30am. It closes at 8:30pm in summer and as late as 5:30pm during winter.
The main entrance fee for adults is 5,20 eur, discounted for children and students up to 26 years of age is for 3,10 eur.

How to get there
The garden is located on the very edge of the city, off the A-45 motorway. From the centre, take the number 2 bus line to the terminus (Ciudad Jardín), from where you'll have to walk about 1km further along this route.
