Torremolinos

Beaches in Torremolinos

Torremolinos is the nearest major resort to Málaga Airport and a popular holiday destination on the Costa del Sol. Torremolinos' meteoric rise as a tourist centre took off in the mid-1920s, with celebrities such as Frank Sinatra, Marlon Brando and Ava Gardner visiting the town.

Today, Torremolinos is a modern city with beaches and several attractions.

Beaches and swimming

The coastline of Torremolinos is occupied by beautiful long beaches, which the marina, a yacht harbour, divides into two parts. The longer northern section measures over 3km and ends de facto on the outskirts of Málaga. The largest beach is Playa del Bajondillo, which occupies most of the coastline.

The beaches south of the marina are slightly more spacious and flow freely into the neighbouring resort of Benalmádena.

The local beaches are covered with fine, light sand and a wide pedestrian promenade winds along the entire coastline, with palm trees, dozens of restaurants, tapas bars and discos. You'll also find sun lounger and umbrella hire and a wide range of water sports and activities.

The bottom drops quite steeply, but the first 10 metres or so from the shore are more gradual.

Town and attractions

Torremolinos is a modern town without a historic centre, but with full facilities. The concentration of shops, supermarkets and restaurants here is probably the highest of any resort on the Costa del Sol.

You can have fun on several golf courses or at the popular Crocodile Park with its live crocodiles. This is adjacent to the large Aqualand Torremolinos waterpark.

Accommodation Torremolinos

Hotel prices in Torremolinos are slightly above average on the Costa del Sol. The cheapest hotels can be found from around 81 eur per night for 2, while larger hotels right on the beach cost from 128 eur per night in a 2-bed room upwards.
