The liveliest and one of the oldest markets, the "Mercado do Bolhão" is located near the main Avenida Aliados and is the ideal place to discover local life. The main products on sale are food, meat, flowers, fruit and vegetables, so the market is mainly used by the inhabitants of Porto itself.
Enjoy the hundreds of scents and colours and let the atmosphere of southern life engulf you for a while.
The market is housed in a monumental neoclassical building dating back to 1914, which was built on the site of the original market, whose history dates back to 1839. The Bolhão Market is open daily from 07:00 to 17:00 and there is no charge for entry.
It is located right in the city centre, with the nearest metro stations being Aliados and Trindade , about 250 metres away. Buses of lines 200, 300, 305, 401, 700, 800 and 801 also stop right by the market.
