The Rocha dos Bordões rock formation is geologically unique in the Azores and is only found in such a massive form on the island of Flores.

Rocha dos Bordões is characterised by huge basalt columns reaching up to 150 metres high.
The perpendicular rock towers over the west coast of Flores and is clearly visible from a distance, but it is not safe to reach on foot.
The best vantage point is right on the main road, where a small terrace with parking for a couple of cars has been built - see the location on the map.
