Ålesund is only 4 degrees below the Arctic Circle, and the local weather depends on this. Due to its location by the sea, don't expect dramatic temperature changes between winter and summer.
During the winter months, average temperatures are around 3 °C, while in summer they are between 12 and 17 °C. In terms of rainfall, May and June are the least rainy months, with an average of 5 days of rain. The winter months of October-December are especially above average in terms of rainfall.
During winter, Ålesund is often cloudy. In spring, summer and early autumn it can rain every day, but the alternation between clear and cloudy skies is very fast and the weather can change several times a day.

When to go to Ålesund
Ålesund and most of the city's attractions can be visited throughout the year.
However, if you want to go to Geirangerfjord or enjoy the outdoors, the best months to visit Ålesund are May-September, with July or August being the hottest months.
Even so, temperatures don't reach high levels, rarely hitting the 20-degree mark. You'll find beaches in Ålesund, but you won't enjoy swimming much unless you're in the hardy club.
