Tsutenkaku Steel Tower is a famous landmark in Osaka and a major tourist attraction in the Shinsekai district.
With a total height of 103 meters, Tsutenkaku may not be able to compete with modern high-rise buildings everywhere in the area, but its rich history still makes it a popular destination and a popular sight to see.
For decades, the Tsutenkaku Tower has been famous for promoting the Japanese company Hitachi.
Osaka's Eiffel Tower
The tower was built in 1912 with a different look from the one today. It was modeled after the Eiffel Tower in Paris as part of the Luna Park.
Although the tower was completely rebuilt in 1956 and the luna park was cancelled, the tower still bears some resemblance to the famous Paris tower.
At 91 metres high, there is an observation deck, and as the immediate Shinsekai district is quite low, there are beautiful views of downtown Osaka and the tallest skyscraper , the Harukas 300.
