Roselle is one of the most important Etruscan archaeological sites in Tuscany and exceeds most other sites in size.
The excavations of the important Etruscan town of Rusallae can be found in a rural area about 11 km northeast of the centre of Grosseto.
The Etruscans built the town of Rusallae in around the 7th century BC and it was completely destroyed by the Saracens in 935 AD.
However, numerous foundations and the outer walls of some houses have survived. The main attractions of the archaeological site are the remains of a floor mosaic and a Roman theatre.
