Bari is located in a Mediterranean climate zone at the transition between temperate and subtropical zones. This means the weather is almost always warmer and more pleasant than in our area. The fact that Bari is right on the coast makes even the hot summers more bearable.
Generally speaking, you can expect mild winters in Bari with temperatures around 13°C, warm springs and hot summers and pleasant autumns where the temperature drops only very slowly towards winter. There is no need to worry about rainy seasons, snow is almost never seen in Bari.

Weather in January
During January, Bari experiences the lowest temperatures of the year on average. It's usually around 13°C during the day, but it's not uncommon for the temperature to rise above 16°C. Rain showers occur about once every 2 to 3 days, but it usually doesn't rain for more than an hour a day.
Weather in February
February in Bari welcomes travellers with temperatures between 13-14 °C and frequent but brief rain showers. February in Bari often sees cloudy skies, but there's no need to worry about extremes as the weather is very stable and rarely surprises.
Weather in March
March temperatures slowly rise to an average of 15°C, the streets and gardens begin to bloom profusely and everything is lush green after a wet winter. Showers slowly fade away and it only showers about every third day, mostly so that your travel is unaffected.
Weather in April
April is a full-on spring month with temperatures around 18°C, but often clawing their way up to summer values. Showers still occur, but they are very light and brief, so they won't compromise urban hiking in Bari or trips into the surrounding area.
During April you will enjoy the richest colours of flowering plants and green grass.

The approaching summer is very noticeable, with average temperatures rising to 23 °C, with no exception of temperatures over 30 °C, especially at the end of the month. In May in Bari, the sky is mostly sunny with a few clouds, with only a light shower here and there.
Weather in June
June is the first typical summer month and from the very first days temperatures regularly exceed 27 °C, often over 30 °C. A slight breeze from the sea keeps the air feeling cooler. Rain is rather rare in June and occurs mainly at night.
Weather in July
The first holiday month welcomes travellers with temperatures between 29 and 35 °C, ideal for swimming in the sea, but less suitable for urban tourism. So during July, just wander through the old town and head to the beach resorts in Puglia.
Rain is a rare occurrence in July, as are cloudy skies.
Weather in August
August is the hottest month of the year in Bari, the weather is virtually no different from July, with only more frequent temperature extremes and associated evening thunderstorms. The normal temperature in August is around 31 °C, and the sea water is also the warmest during this month, averaging 27 °C.
Weather in September
September is still typically a summer month. Temperatures in Bari normally reach above 26 °C and it rarely rains. The landscape around Bari is arid and dry, but the sea water is pleasantly warm and hotel prices are considerably lower. September is therefore one of the best months for beach holidays around Bari.
Weather in October
Autumn sets in very slowly during October, but the trees are not yet turning colour. Normal temperatures soar to 22°C, encouraging long walks around town and excursions in the surrounding area.
Weather in November
November temperatures are a comfortable 17°C and although this is statistically the rainiest month of the year, you don't have to worry about prolonged rain. Only every 2nd or 3rd day or so will there be a quick shower followed by sunshine.
Weather in December
In December you will enjoy temperatures of around 14°C and occasional showers, but these will never last more than 2 hours. It's not until late November and December that the leaves on the trees start to turn colour, but autumn is not as colourful here, with only paler shades of yellow and brown.

When to go to Bari
Bari is a year-round destination if you're just looking for urban tourism. There are no extreme seasons here and even during the winter, it doesn't happen that the days are wasted.
If you're heading to Bari and the surrounding area for a dip in the sea, then only head here in the summer when the water is warm enough. The hottest months are June to the end of September, but during the holidays (and especially in August) expect large crowds on the beaches and high accommodation prices. Most Italians head off on holiday at this time and pack the local resorts.
The best month for a beach holiday in terms of weather, price and beach crowding is definitely September.
