Beringharjo Market

Pasar Berignharjo

The traditional Beringharjo market is on your right hand side as you head north along Malioboro Street towards Keraton.

Just turn into the next alley and you'll find that parallel to Jalan Malioboro is a whole other world.

You can buy almost everything here - from household items that don't quite interest a tourist, to local handicraft items, to food.

The Beringharjo market consists of two parts - the main covered building where you'll find slightly better and more expensive goods, mainly clothing, handicrafts and there are a few souvenir stalls.

The second part is an impromptu market in the many side streets, where the real shopping frenzy takes place.

The market is open daily from 8:30am-9pm.
