In Billund itself and its immediate surroundings you will find only 12 accommodation facilities. Almost half of them are part of Legoland.
Accommodation in Legoland
If you want to give your children a real all-round experience, you must choose accommodation in hotels run by Legoland. There are 3 types of accommodation to choose from:
- 4* Hotel Legoland
- Legoland Castle Hotel
- Legoland VillagePirate's Inn Motel, NINJAGO Cabins, Wild West Cabins and Wilderness Barrels and Cabins.
Hotel Legoland is directly connected to the theme park and offers an authentic cube experience. The hotel is located inside the resort.
Castle Hotel Conversely, it will offer a fairytale realm of knights, princesses and dragons. The castle in which the hotel is housed can be seen from afar and is just across the road from the entrance to Legoland.
Needless to say, you will pay quite a bit extra for both accommodations. A double room will set you back at 200 eur and a family room with four beds at 400 eur per night.
A cheaper option is Legoland Village. It is located below Lalandia and about 300 metres from Legoland.
There are pirate rooms for up to 8 people - Pirate's Inn Motel - and wooden cabins (lodges) with up to three rooms - Wilderness Barrels and Cabins - in a large area. Themed cabins can also be found in NINJAGO and Wild West style.
This accommodation is only suitable in the warm summer months and is reminiscent of Czech campsites.
Prices are only slightly lower than Legoland, which often sells out in advance.
Great hotels outside Legoland
Don't despair if you don't get a spot at the accommodation listed above. There are 3 great hotels nearby and within walking distance that will offer nice rooms with "normal" prices.
Zleep Hotel Billund (Recommended) - there is a very nice hotel near the airport. It offers rooms for up to 4 people and prices are around 121 eur per night including a hearty breakfast which includes savoury and sweet pastries, fresh eggs, salami, ham, a choice of 4 types of cheese, fruit and vegetables. Coffee, several types of milk and juices are provided. From the hotel you can walk to Legoland. It's on an asphalt path next to the road for 2.5 kilometers, which will take you less than half an hour. Alternatively, use the buses from the airport for 24 dkk. For dinner, a nearby pizzeria delivers (menu is at reception) or pop into the terminal cafe for a warm baguette.
4* Hotel Propellen - Just 300 metres from both Legoland and Lalandia is this four-star hotel, an alternative to the sold-out rooms at Legoland. For less than 5,000 per room you get beautiful accommodation with an indoor pool, but no breakfast.
4* Hotel Svanen Billund - A little further away from the gates of Legoland, but closer to the city centre and perhaps the LEGO House, is the Svanen Hotel. The accommodation will again be lovely and clean, but at the price of 147 eur for a room with breakfast. Children under 12 are free.
How to save on accommodation?
If you are planning to stay in the Billund area for a longer period of time, it is worth renting a car at the airport and looking for accommodation outside Billund. Prices in the area within half an hour's drive can easily drop below 73 eur for a room and night for two people.
If you're only planning a day visit to Legoland, it's worth trying your luck and looking at packages that include a day's admission to Legoland and accommodation at one of the hotels listed above.
Capacities tend to be limited and often sell out and the discount is roughly 37 eur per stay. If you are planning two visits to the park during your stay, it is worth buying separate accommodation and then a two-day park pass - see Legoland price list.
