In this chapter you will learn how to get around Nessebar and the nearest nearby resorts of Sunny Beach, Sveti Vlas, Elenite, Ravda and Pomorie.
All of these places are served by a very busy bus service, which runs late into the night.
Within Nessebar, which can be easily crossed on foot in 20 minutes, you can also take the tourist road trains and you can also reach Sunny Beach by ferry.
On foot
Within the historic centre of Nessebar you can only get around on foot. Only locals are allowed to enter the area inside the walls. The historic centre can be reached on foot in 15 minutes.
You can also easily walk from the old Nessebar to the new part of the town on the mainland. There is also a wide walkway past the windmill across the neck of the road.
Public transport buses
Transport within Nessebar and the surrounding area is provided by Di Es Bus with its old orange buses.
While buses on long-distance routes (including the line to Burgas) are almost always air-conditioned, these orange buses are without air-conditioning and are often quite crowded.
Routes and timetables
Timetables for all lines can be found at diesbus.com/avtobusni-linii. Timetables are also displayed at the vast majority of stops.
However, only the departure times from the first stop on the route are always shown. So if you are boarding somewhere along the route, you have to calculate the actual departure time from that stop very roughly based on how far away the first stop on the line is.

Prices vary depending on the distance you travel.

Stops
Buses stop only at marked stops that you can recognize at a glance.
If you want to get off, press the "stop" button.
Tourist train
The yellow line tourist road train goes to old Nessebar, which also stops at the northern beach and has a final stop at the Pirates of the Caribbean Mini-Aquapark. Here you can change to the blue line to the centre of Sunny Beach.
These trains not only serve as a tourist attraction, but also as a practical mode of transportation. They run much closer to the beach than regular buses.
The ride may not be very comfortable, but since the local buses are not air-conditioned, a ride on an open tourist train can be more pleasant in the end.
Ticket prices
Each ride is charged 6 bgn. If you only change trains, you will have to pay an additional fare of 6 lv again.
It is paid only in cash to the conductor, who will come to you and collect the money himself.
Routes and timetables
There are 4 different train lines operating in Nessebar and the neighbouring Sunny Beach.
They all run roughly once every 15 minutes and only stop at marked stops, but only if you tell the conductor where you will be getting off.
Operating hours are from 10:00 to 24:00.

Taxi
Mobile apps like Uber or Bolt don't work in Nessebar, but there are plenty of official yellow taxis on the streets.
Taxis wait at designated spots, but you can flag them down anywhere on the street without any problems.
There are plenty of taxis on the streets at all hours of the day and night.
Prices around Nessebar and Sunny Beach are calculated according to the taximeter.
- 6,50 bgn - Boarding fee
- 4,50 bgn - price per 1 kilometre
- 2,25 bgn - price for 1 minute of parking (for example at the semfar)
So taxis are very expensive and even fixed prices to more distant places are high (for example to Burgas airport for 80 bgn).
