Why go to Burgas and what activities does the city offer to tourists?
Burgas may not be your primary destination when you travel to Bulgaria, but if you're passing through the city on your way from the local BOJ airport, it's definitely worth a stop.

Beaches and swimming
While there are much more famous resorts on the Bulgarian coast, Burgas is also great for sea bathing and beach holidays.
A beautiful wide sandy beach stretches along the entire coastline, which is superbly separated from the hustle and bustle of the city by the wide Sea Garden.
Burgas is the perfect place to swim if, for example, you've got cheap weekend tickets to the local airport and don't feel like travelling to more distant resorts.
Walking along the sea
The coast not only attracts lovers of swimming and sunbathing, but also encourages long walks, which you can take even in winter.
Along the entire length of the beach there is a pedestrian and cycling promenade that runs for more than 3 km, which you can easily replace with a walk through the Sea Garden Park a few metres above you.
Most of the walking routes run through parks or along the beach, but at the southern end of Burgas' longest beach you can walk along the pier or the harbour quay with its two romantic lighthouses.
Sights and history
It probably doesn't make sense to travel to Burgas solely for the sights. But if you're already here, head to the centre and check out the two interesting churches, which you can also visit for free.
Ship-Spotting
Large cargo ship enthusiasts will be in paradise in Burgas. The second largest cargo port in Bulgaria is located right in the centre of the city, and ships sailing into it are perfectly visible from the coast.
The best place to watch the ships is from the lighthouses at the end of the pier, where the PlanetUm passenger harbour and science museum is located.
