May, when some travel agents already offer holidays in Bulgaria, is more suitable for walking and sunbathing. The air temperature is between 18°C and 23°C, but the sea is still very cold.
When does it rain the most?
Rainfall is fairly evenly distributed throughout the year, except for June to August, when rain is an exceptional occurrence.
The other months have an average of 5-7 days of rain per month, but these are usually only light showers or thunderstorms that last for a short time (an hour at most).
Which months are the sunniest?
The longest months of sunshine are June, July and August, when there are long days and minimal cloud cover.
However, you can expect plenty of sunshine from April onwards, and partly cloudy or clear weather usually lasts until early October.
Conversely, the darkest months are December and January, with short days and often overcast skies.
What is the sea temperature in Burgas?
The sea is suitable for swimming from June to September. In the first half of June, however, be prepared that swimming is for the hardy: the sea is only around 19-20 °C at this time.
By the end of June, it's already around 22 °C.
The water is at its warmest in July and August, when its temperature reaches around 25 °C, and remains warmed from the summer throughout September, with a temperature of around 23 °C.

When to go to Burgas
Burgas and the entire Bulgarian coast is a purely summer destination for most travellers.
Swimming in the sea, water sports and relaxing on the beach are the main activities that people travel to eastern Bulgaria for.
The summer season in Burgas runs from mid-June to the end of August. The whole of September is a good month to go to the sea, as the water is still warm from the summer and even the air temperatures are regularly around 23°C to 25°C.
On the other hand, May or early June are not very good months to go to the sea, as the water is very cold.
