The wide boulevard is lined with many monuments and a row of mature eucalyptus trees. Pedestrian walkways run along the sides and a wide strip of ochre-coloured granular rock runs down the centre of Anzac Parade, where military parades and commemorative events are held.
Anzac Day celebrations
The boulevard is the site of the Anzac Day celebrations (25 April). It is here that the largest ceremonies and celebrations in all of Australia take place.
The word "Anzac" is used to honour Australian and New Zealand army troops killed in the First and Second World Wars.
Anzac Day is one of Australia's most important holidays.
Memorials and monuments
Anzac Boulevard is lined on both sides with many memorials commemorating the participation of Australian and New Zealand soldiers in 20th and 21st century conflicts.
There are also memorials to the Australian Air Force and the Australian Navy.
