Getting from Trondheim Airport

Trondheim

The airport is a quick train ride from the airport to the city centre, which stops right outside the terminal. Bus routes to the outskirts of Trondheim are available for the same price, and suburban buses also stop at the airport.

You can find connections to all forms of public transport via entur.no.

Car rental

If the city of Trondheim isn't your only destination, but you'll also be exploring Norway's beautiful countryside, fjords and national parks, renting a car is by far the best option for travel.

Intercity transport to remote areas is very sporadic.

In high season, expect car rental prices for 7 days from 550 eur. Car rental capacities are limited, so ideally book as far in advance as possible. Last-minute prices can go up as high as 1 000 eur per week.

You can usually cross the border into nearby Sweden with your rental car without any problems.

R70 train

The R70 commuter train is the fastest way to get to the centre of Trondheim, but also to nearby Stjørdal and other towns such as Støren, Hommelvik, Åsen, Skogn, Levanker, Verdal and Steinkjer.

You can buy your ticket from the ticket machine at the station or via the ATB mobile app (Google Play / App Store)

The fare for the Trondheim zone is valid all the way to the airport or Stjørdal and is the same on all R70 trains, all city and suburban buses and trams.

They are not integrated into the public transport system and therefore ATB tickets are not valid for them as for the train and local buses.

The Værnes-ekspressen runs directly to the centre of Trondheim (Prinses gate) with many stops along the way. It runs through the city to the southern suburbs to the Nidarvoll skole stop.
