Tioman Airport is located in one of the largest resorts on the island, in the village of Tekek. Here are some tips on how you can get from the airport to your hotel.
On foot
If you are staying in one of the hotels located in Tekek village itself, you don't have to worry about transportation. You can walk the distance to the northern or southern tip in less than 10 minutes.
The exception is the resort favourite Berjaya Tioman Resort, which is about 2.5 kilometres from the airport. You can walk there too, but not with luggage. For transport to this resort, book a water taxi.
4WD Taxi
A four-wheel drive SUV will take you to the more remote Berjaya resort or across the island to Juara.
There is only one road on the island, which connects the northern tip of Tekek to Juara and cuts through the hilly forest in the middle of the island.
You'll catch a taxi on the street - practically any car with a flatbed without passengers. A ride to Juara will cost 35 myr per person and takes about 10 minutes. The ride will be twisty and bouncy, especially if you travel in the back of a car.
Sea Taxi
You will have to travel by water to the more distant resorts like ABC Beach, Paya, Melina, Genting and others. Immediately opposite the airport is the Tekek marina, from which you can go anywhere on the island for the flat rate of 40 myr per passenger.
The boat ride takes 10 to 20 minutes depending on the distance around the island.
