The small Tawau International Airport is located in the eastern part of the Malaysian island of Borneo, about 35 km west of Tawau town and 80 km east of the Semporna archipelago.

The busiest connection (several flights a day) is to Kuala Lumpur, which is served by three airlines - AirAsia, Malaysia Airlines and Batik Air. The second most frequent destination is Sabah's largest city - Kota Kinabalu.
