Rio de Janeiro Galeao International Airport in a nutshell

View of Rio de Janeiro

Rio de Janeiro's main international airport is the 10th largest in the country in terms of passenger traffic. Even the much smaller Santos Dumont Airport in the city centre handles twice as many passengers, mainly due to its very busy domestic routes.

Officially, the airport is named "Galeão-Antonio Carlos Jobim", but among the public it is mainly known as Galeão after the adjacent neighbourhood.

Small bases here are operated by Gol and LATAM airlines, which only fly domestic flights to Brazil from here.

All international airlines bound for Rio land at this airport.

There are direct routes to most of South America, Panama, the USA, Portugal, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, France, England, Germany and the United Arab Emirates.
