The new Felipe Ángeles International Airport has been serving the public since 2022, when it opened after the redevelopment of the former Santa Lucia military base.
The gradual construction of a large terminal is creating Mexico's largest airport, which is set to replace the outdated Benito Juárez MEX Airport, located in a densely built-up area close to the centre of Mexico City, by 2030.
Currently, Felipe Ángeles is mainly served by Mexican airlines AeroMexico, Interjet, VivaAerobus and Volaris to domestic and international destinations.
