The only airport in the city and Macau Special Administrative Region is located about 8 km from the city centre on Taipa Island. Air Macau has its main base here.
Macau is a medium-sized airport. Most flights are to the East Asia region with the highest frequency to mainland China, Taiwan, South Korea and the Philippines. There are no long-haul flights to Macau, but you can use the large Hong Kong HKG airport, about an hour's bus ride from Macau.
An interesting feature of the airport is the fact that the terminal and the apron itself are on the mainland, while the runway is located on an artificial island. It is accessed by two taxiways on a bridge structure.
