Macau Airport uses only one terminal common to all departures. The airport is one of the medium-sized airports and is very well laid out.
The building is divided into two floors. The ground floor is allocated to arrivals and the 1st floor houses the check-in desks and security check.
Security and immigration checkpoints
There is a single security checkpoint in the terminal leading to all departure gates. Waiting times vary between 2 and 10 minutes.
You will always go through immigration upon arrival, even if you are arriving from mainland China. Checks are very efficient and queues are up to a maximum of 20 minutes.
Transfer between flights
Because Macau has a special status within China, transfers here are exclusively international, even between flights to and from China.
On arrival, the passenger flow is split into two corridors: one heading for the exit and one for a special transit security check, after which you'll find yourself directly in the departure gate area.
Net transfer time is usually between 10 and 20 minutes.
