There are three main ways to get to the airport:
- Regular buses run roughly every hour to Krabi (90 baht) or to the Ao Nang resort (150 baht).
- Taxi is the most expensive option, but by far the most convenient and reliable.
- Renting a car is a great option for those who want to travel around the Thai countryside. Many large rental companies operate at the airport.

Taxi, Grab, Uber
Outside the arrivals hall (after exiting transit towards the left) there are several counters of official taxi services with fixed prices.
You order and pay for your taxi at the counter, where you get a ticket to hand to the taxi driver. The normal price to Krabi is 500 thb and to Ao Nang beach 600 thb.
Never get in a taxi to someone who approaches you outside the terminal.
Of the mobile apps, Grab works great in Krabi. Uber and Bolt are not yet working in Krabi province.
This is admittedly a mobile app for which internet is normally required (buy a Philippine e-sim through airalo.com).
Prices are slightly lower than regular taxis and you can also pay online with a credit card. You can normally pay 300 thb to 450 thb to Krabi with Grab, depending on availability.
Shuttle Bus
The cheapest transport is a special airport bus. It operates from about 6:00am to 10:00pm at irregular intervals of about 60-90 minutes.
The journey to Krabi takes about 30 minutes and to Ao Nang beach 60-75 minutes.
You can pay your ticket at the "Shuttle Bus" counters outside the arrivals hall and only cash is accepted.
- Krabi Town, the boat dock on Phi Phi and Ko Lanta - 90 thb
- Ao Nang, boat dock on Railay - 150 thb
Travelling in the opposite direction from the towns to the airport, you can wait along the main road where the buses and minibuses pass, but you have no way of deriving an arrival time and can wait comfortably for more than 75 minutes.
A more convenient option is to pay for a minibus or bus at one of the many tourist agencies located in the centre of Ao Nang and Krabi. You can also book a bus transfer at any hotel.
The way it works in practice is that the minibus/coach will pick you up directly at the address where you booked it. Therefore, the journey to the airport can stretch to an hour and a half.
Car rental
While a motorbike is the most popular mode of transport around Thailand, you can only rent a car at Krabi Airport.
If you're not adept at driving a motorbike and also want to explore Thailand on your own, we definitely recommend a significantly safer car.
Many large multinational car rental companies are based in the terminal. Prices start at 150 eur.
