While Geneva Airport has 2 terminals, only Terminal 1 is used to handle all scheduled passengers.

Terminal 1 and satellite buildings

Due to limited space for development, the main Terminal 1 is cramped and departure gates are often short of seating. However, the building is at least very well equipped with services.

After passing through the main security checkpoint you will find yourself at departure gate "A", from which underground corridors with moving walkways also lead to three small buildings in the middle of the airport area with departure gates "B" and "D".

Passport control also leads from area 'A' to departure gate 'C', which serves flights outside the Schengen area.

French sector

Due to the airport's proximity to the French border, Terminal 1 is equipped with a special security and customs checkpoint leading to departure gates 'F' and 'E'.

These are known as the French Sector and handle flights to cities in France.

The sector allows flights from Geneva to France to be handled as domestic flights and, for some flights to other destinations, passengers can choose to go through French or Swiss customs.

Terminal 2

Terminal 2, located approximately 200 metres south of Terminal 1, is used exclusively for the check-in of ski charter and seasonal flights. Terminal 2 is not equipped with any services apart from check-in desks, however, after passing through security you will still be transported by bus to the departure gates of Terminal 1.

Transfer between flights

The airport is small in size and all transfers take place within a single Terminal 1.

You do not need to leave the transit area when transferring if you have both flights on the same booking or if you are travelling with hand luggage only and have a mobile boarding pass for the connecting flight.

Schengen <-> Schengen

Upon arrival, you will disembark directly into the departure gate area. Simply search for the gate number of the connecting flight on the screen.

There is no security check.

Realistic transfer time from deplaning: 5 to 10 minutes.

Schengen -> Non-Schengen

Upon arrival, you will disembark directly into the departure gate area. Locate the gate number of the connecting flight and proceed through passport control to the C-Gates.

Realistic transfer time from deplaning: 15 to 20 minutes.

Non-Schengen -> Schengen

Upon arrival, you will pass through a separate corridor to immigration control.

After that, follow the "Connecting Flights" signs and go through security to the departure gate area.

Realistic transfer time from deplaning: 20 to 30 minutes.
