Bangalore Airport currently has 2 terminals in two separate buildings approximately 350 metres apart.
Walking between the terminals is by free shuttle bus, which runs along the public area (landside) approximately once every 10 minutes. The bus runs 24/7 and the journey time is approximately 3-5 minutes.
Due to several pre-departure checks, we recommend arriving at the airport at least 3 hours before departure.

Transfer between flights
Bangalore airport is a major hub and transfers between flights within India and international flights are frequent here.
Domestic <-> Domestic
Transfer procedures vary according to the type of transfer.
In case you do not need to leave the terminal
Follow the "Domestic Transfer" signage, which will take you from the baggage claim area to the right to security and then directly to the departure gates.
You will not leave the transit area.
- Average transfer time - 15-25 minutes
- Transfer baggage - will be automatically transferred
In case of transfer between terminals
Exit the aircraft towards the exit. You will need to collect your luggage, walk out and take the free shuttle bus to the other terminal to check in again.
- Average transfer time - 50-80 minutes
- Baggage on transfer - you must collect and re-check in
International <-> International
The international terminal has a direct transit option so you don't have to leave the transit area.
Follow the "International Transfer" signage which will lead you to security and then straight to the departure gates. There is no immigration check.
- Average transfer time - 15-25 minutes
- Baggage on transfer - will be transferred automatically
International <-> Domestic
When transferring from an international flight to a domestic flight or vice versa, you must always exit the transit area, go outside to the public area and check in again.
The distance between terminals is a maximum of 5 minutes by free shuttle bus. Some airlines also handle domestic flights from Terminal 2, so you don't have to move between buildings (Air India for example).
When transferring from an international to a domestic flight, you must always collect your baggage and check it in again.
On the reverse transfer from domestic to international, the baggage may be automatically rechecked. However, always check this situation when you check in at your point of departure.
- Average transfer time - 45 to 90 minutes
- Baggage on transfer - you must collect and re-check-in
Overnight in the terminal - opening hours
The airport remains open 24/7. However, you will only be admitted into the building upon presentation of your ticket or boarding pass, and staff will often refuse to admit passengers who have a departure in more than 8 hours.
As a practical matter, you can stay overnight at the airport for a long layover, for example, but there are minimal comfortable seats in the public area.
Moreover, both terminals are very busy throughout the night.
Hotels near the airport
There is only one hotel right next to the terminals - the Taj Bangalore *****.
