You can check in for your Turkish Airlines flight for free at the airport counter, but you can also check in faster via kiosks or from the comfort of your home via computer or phone.
Check-in at the airport
You can check in directly at the check-in counter before each flight. They normally open 3 hours before departure and close 45 minutes for domestic flights and 60 minutes for international flights.
However, if you don't have checked baggage, it is quicker and more convenient to check-in in one of the following ways.
Self-check-in kiosks
At Istanbul airport, and elsewhere, you will find self-service kiosks. Use the PNR (6-digit code) of your ticket or the e-ticket number to find your reservation, scan your passports and have your boarding passes printed.
You will then head through security directly to the departure gate.
Online check-in
It's most convenient to check in online 24 hours to 90 minutes before departure.
On your phone or computer, go to turkishairlines.com, click Check-in and enter your last name and PNR code, which you'll find in your ticket booking email.
A few clicks later, you'll have your ticket on your phone to show at the airport. Check-in is most convenient via the Turkish Airlines mobile app.
Check in any baggage for quick check-in at the counters marked as Baggage Drop-off.
Seat selection
In some cases, you may have the option to select specific seats during check-in. It all depends on the ticket fare you have purchased.
On the cheapest EcoFly, you can choose a specific seat on the plane for an additional fee. However, seating can only be done up to 6 hours before departure, after that you will be automatically assigned a seat without the option to purchase a specific seat.
The prices for the cheapest window or aisle seats are as follows:
- Short flights (Europe, Middle East) - from 15 usd
- Long-haul flights - from 30 usd
On other fares, you can buy better seats at the front of the cabin or at the emergency exits for an additional fee.
Hello, I am flying with turkish airlines from Thessaloniki to Sweden via Istanbul. From the Turkish consulate I confirmed that I can fly with a Greek identity card as I don't have a passport. When I go to mobile check in, it asks me to add my passport number in order to be issued. Will I have a problem?
Thanks in advance!
This is not an airline website, this is a travel website. Ask Turkish Airlines directly.
An ID card will be sufficient for the transfer. The origin and destination is within Schengen and you will not enter Turkey.
Are you sure you just need an ID? Then why do you need a passport to travel to the UK even if you are just changing trains? Isn't that the same thing?
A citizen to Turkey is enough. At least a Greek one, according to the Turkish Ministry's website.
