Air Canada baggage

Baggage rules vary depending on the fare you purchase, but also on the route you are flying.
For example, on flights within Canada, to the USA and to the Caribbean/Central America you are only entitled to 1 small personal item in basic economy class.
Hand luggage
Different hand baggage rules apply for tickets purchased from 3 January 2025.
Passengers travelling on long-haul flights from Asia, Australia, Europe, Africa and South America can take 1 standard carry-on bag and 1 personal item free of charge on all fares.

- 43 x 33 x 16 cm
There is no weight limit for hand luggage.
Passengers on the cheapest fare Economy Basic on flights to Canada, the USA, the Caribbean, Central America and Mexico may only carry 1 personal item with a maximum size of 43x33x16 cm.
However, if you have a connecting long-haul flight, you can always carry 1 standard cabin bag (55x40x23 cm) + 1 personal item (43x33x16 cm) on all flights.

Checked baggage
In the tariff Economy Basic No checked baggage is ever included.
It is always worth purchasing a more expensive fare rather than adding baggage to the "Basic" fare during the booking process.
All other economy class fares (Standard, Flex, Comfort) include 1 piece up to 23 kg.
On Premium Economy and Business Class fares, 2 pieces of 23 kg each are included.

Infant baggage
Children up to 2 years old can bring a stroller and 1 small carry-on bag with personal items, food and drink that you will need during the flight free of charge.
