The traditional check-in at the airport counter is free and usually starts 3 hours and ends one hour before departure, while at US airports there is usually at least one counter open all day.

Online check-in can be done 24 hours before departure. You can either print your boarding pass at home or at a machine at the airport, or simply save it on your mobile phone and scan the barcode at the airport.
