Cuc Phuong is the oldest national park in Vietnam and offers a glimpse into the unique ecosystem of the lowland rainforest that stretches between limestone peaks. The area is home to many endangered primates and there are also many interesting cave complexes to explore.

Although Cuc Phuong National Park is not well known among international visitors, it is definitely worth a visit.

What to see in Cuc Phuong National Park?

Cuc Phuong National Park offers several attractions to go to. Probably the most interesting for visitors are the hiking trails, which take you into the heart of the forest and allow you to get to know the local nature really up close.

Wildlife watching is also one of the very popular activities, and the national park organises night-time animal watching expeditions when these animals are most active. Many hiking trails also lead to ancient trees that have been growing in the park for hundreds of years.

Other places not to be missed when visiting the national park include:

  • Cuc Phuong Museum - A museum that focuses on the national park and especially the flora and fauna that can be found there.
  • Cuc Phuong Botanic Garden - A small botanical garden that showcases plants typical of the area.
  • Endangered Primate Rescue Center - A rescue station where you will meet fifteen species of endangered primates that for some reason can no longer live in the wild.
  • Silver Cloudy Peak - A hiking trail leads to the highest mountain in the national park for beautiful views of the surrounding landscape.
  • Caves - There are a large number of caves in the park where the remains of prehistoric life have been found.

Entrance fees and opening hours

To enter the national park, pay 60 000 vnd. To enter the Endangered Primate Rescue Station, pay 50 000 vnd, the tour is guided only.

There are no restrictions on entry to the national park itself, but the centre is only open from 7am to 8pm.

Transport to Cuc Phuong National Park

You can reach the national park directly by rented scooter, car or taxi.

There is a local bus from Hanoi to the adjacent town of Nho Quan, which you can use. You can then take a taxi or mototaxi from Nho Quan.
