The tiny island north of Phi Phi Don attracts tourists with its white sand, incredibly clear water and fascinating underwater life. Within accessible distance of the main beach are two coral reefs that, although badly damaged, still offer views of beautiful underwater life. Here you can see clownfish or blacktip sharks.

The Thai name for Bamboo Island is Koh Mai Pai, the island is part of the Koh Phi Phi archipelago. You can go here as part of an organised trip, visiting several of the surrounding islands, or by privately chartered longtail boat.

Entrance fees and opening hours

The island is part of the Mu Koh Phi Phi National Park, with entrance fees of 400 TBH per adult and 200 TBH per child.

You can visit the island at any time of the day, but usually you can get here with organized tours after visiting the other islands of the Koh Phi Phi archipelago in the afternoon.

Accommodation on Bamboo Island

There is no accommodation on the island, but you can spend the night here as part of an organised trip in tents. Tents are also available for rent on the beach, so you can organise your own overnight stay.

Transportation to Bamboo Island

There is no public transport to Bamboo Island. You can get here as part of an organised trip from Krabi, Ao Nang, Phuket or Phi Phi Don Island. A pleasant but more expensive option is to hire your own longtail boat to take you to the island for the day.
