Near Tenerife Sur TFS airport you can visit the beautiful long and wide La Tejita beach, popular with kitesurfers and the perfect place to say goodbye to the Atlantic Ocean before your flight. La Tejita is covered in fine black volcanic sand and most of the time there will be only a few other people on the large area. Towards the village of La Tejita you can hire sunbeds and umbrellas, otherwise the rest of the beach is free of facilities.
Find the best hotel by the beach
From the beach, you'll be treated to a view of the 171-metre volcanic cone of Montaña Roja, a popular tourist attraction that you can climb by following a marked trail. This mountain actually corresponds to its name "Roja", as its rocks are brick red.
How to get there
La Tejita is easily accessible via the coastal road that turns off the main highway in front of the airport. There is free parking at the western end of the beach, as well as at the starting point of the short trek to Montaña Roja.
Bus routes 410, 470 and 483 pass through the town of La Tejita.
